
Volkswagen revealed today the Golf Twin Drive Concept, a new plug-in electric hybrid powered by a powerful 82-hp electric motor (designed for city driving) and a 2.0 liter turbodiesel producing 122 hp (for longer trips).
The electric engine has an autonomy of 50 kilometers (31 miles). The company will test a fleet of 20 vehicles which are produced in partnership with eight other German companies.
The car is supposed to go into production in 2010.

It seems that Volkswagen wants to be in fashion and announced three hybrid models and a 100% electric one. Martin Winterkorn, Volkswagen’s CEO , announced in Lisbon where the Scirocco was launched, that the future Golf VI will also be offered as a hybrid.
Also the Touareg and Jetta will be offered as a hybrid. First 100% electric model will be offered in 2010 as a limited edition.
The lithium-ion electric system will also be offered on the production version of the future Up.
Winterkorn said that even if the hybrid systems start to play a very important part in the auto industry, the tradition engine, gas and diesel will continue to be the base on the auto market.

The other days there were rumors saying that the future generation Golf will not come to the North American market, but today Volkswagen of America said it is proceeding with plans to launch the next-generation Golf hatchback in the U.S. in fall 2009.
Volkswagen of America spokesman Steve Keyes said: "We are currently planning the new Golf VI and GTI introduction for the fall of next year. The estimated volumes are already included in our 2009 financials."
Golf VI will make its world debut this autumn at the Paris Auto Show. The Golf VI will be more than a facelift: modified exterior, better interior and new engine line-up, and not to forget will be cheaper than the current generation Golf. That will mean that for, lets say 16.000 euro you will get a better car than today.

As you know, Volkswagen will unveil the next generation Golf this autumn at the Paris Motor Show. To give us a pretty good idea of what the new generation will bring, AutoBild revealed a few renderings of the entire Golf family.
The Golf VI will be more than a facelift: modified exterior, better interior and new engine line-up, and not to forget will be cheaper than the current generation Golf. That will mean that for, lets say 16.000 euro you will get a better car than today.
The six cylinder engine will be discontinued, reason: the consumption. Volkswagen will go for less cylinder and turbocharging.
The compamny will offer the same versions as for the current generation: Concept Line, Comfort Line, High Line, GTI and GTD, but will also add the sporting R-Line and the Golf Individual.
The engine range: the 1.4, 80 hp will be replaced in the summer of 2009 by the 1.2 TSI, 86-horsepower; the 1.6, 102 hp will be replaced by the 1.2 TSI, 105-hp; 1.4 TSI, 160 hp, with Turbo and compressor; 2.0 TSI, 200 hp, the famous GTI engine. Diesel: 2.0 TDI CR (Common Rail), 110 hp; 1.6 TDI, CR, 90 hp; 2.0 TDI CR, 140 hp.
The Golf Plus version will be revealed in March 2009, while the Cabrio version will come in 2010.

According to Auto Motor Und Sport the future generation Golf will definitely get cabrio version. The standard version will make its world debut this autumn at the Los Angeles Motor Show while the cabrio version will follow in March 2010.
It will be a four-seats model and will compete with the cabrio version of the Audi A3.
Under the bonnet of the future generation Golf you will see both gas and diesel engines. The gas engine range of the Golf VI will include: a new 1,4 liter engine, both naturally aspirated (80 hp) and turbocharged (TFSI, 120 hp), the 1,6 liters engine (102 hp), the 2,0 liters engine, both naturally aspirated (150 hp) and turbocharged (200 hp) and the 1,4 dual-charger TSI engine (150 hp). Diesel engines will include the old 1.9 TDI Pompe-Duse (105 hp) and two new common-rail engines: a 1,6 liters TDI (90 hp) and a 2.0 liters TDI in two power steps (same as today, 140 and 170 hp).

Volkswagen announced that when they unveiled the 2009 Golf VI in October it will be launched with new, smaller base engine.
Wolfgang Steiger, VW’s manager for powertrain research, told Automobilwoche that besides the familiar 1.4-liter TSI engine, the latest Golf also will offer either a 1.0- or 1.2-liter engine rated at 75 horsepower.
The new engine will not reach the market until next year at the earliest, he said. The new Golf’s option list will include features from larger VW models. They include automatic vehicle-interval control from the Phaeton and Touareg and parking assistance from the Touran and Tiguan.
Maybe some of you consider the Golf IV an old car but the guys from Mattig thought something else and unveiled their latest tuning kit for the German vehicle. The kit consists in a new apron at the from spoiler featuring two large air intakes, a new bonnet extension for the front edge in order to protect it against damage, new headlights, new side skirts, sports mirrors with integrated indicators, a new rear apron and new four pipes exhaust system.

Volkswagen announced that the cabriolet version of the successful Golf will make a comeback in 2010, but it won’t be built by Karmann. The first version remained in production for 14 years without major changes, and the second-generation cabrio Golf was discontinued in 2002 and never replaced.
The open-air Golf will be derived from the three-door hatch, so it’ll get a stubby rear end, relatively small boot and packaging very close to the current A3 cabrio’s.
Golf cabrio will be offered with a wide range of engines including: 1.4 TSI, 120bhp, 1.4 TSI, 150hp, 2.0 TSI, 200bhp, 1.6 TDI, 105bhp, 2.0 TDI, 140bhp, 2.0 TDI, 170bhp. All engine will be mated to the DSG dual-clutch transmission which has either six or seven forward ratios.
Prices will start at €25,000 in its most basic form.
Dubbed the Golf GTI Performance design, the car you see in the photos represents a design study of the well-known car. The vehicle features a new bodykit which consists in a re-designed front bumper, new side skirts, widened fenders, re-designed rear bumper, rear roof spoiler and a new exhaust system.
The Golf GTI received also a Lambo doors system in order to accentuate the sportivity of the car. At the interior the manufacturer added a state of the art sound system and due to the size of this, one chair had to be pulled away in order to make some room.
